Phelim McAleer is an Irish journalist, documentary filmmaker & playwright. Among his works has been, “My Son Hunter,” “Obamagate: The Movie,” and his current play “October 7: In Their Own Words.” His unique style utilizes the spoken words recorded from interviews with real people, thus the name “verbatim play.”
“October 7th” utilizes the eyewitness accounts of survivors and families of victims that give reality to the horrific events that can otherwise be viewed as “surreal.” There is no added drama, no editorializing or literary license needed-October 7 is derived from the actual voices of those who lived through that day. Their stories are tragic, and also unforgettable. His wife, Ann McElhinney, has been his partner in producing many of his projects.
