Ambassador Ahmed Farouk is the Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister of Egypt and Consul General of Egypt in New York City. He previously served as Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs and Chairman of the UN Working Group IV to Countering Piracy off the coast of Somalia. He was Ambassador of Egypt to Slovenia and served in posts in Tokyo, Jordan, and the Holy See, where he was awarded by Pope John Paul II. Ambassador Farouk holds an M.A. in International Law and a license of law from Cairo University as well as a B.A. in Management from Helwan University in Egypt.
